To maintain my mental health I choose to think on things that are true, honest, encouraging, right, kiss my babies with joy, read a Bible verse and take a nap (in the same day).

My mental Health is tied to my sense of duty. If I'm only concerned with myself, I feel unaccomplished.
Volunteerism, my dogs, and nature, are my healthiest forms of mental health.

I received some very good advice from a friend from high school. She said when she retired she made a commitment to do something physical, something mental, and something spiritual everyday. I have taken that advice to heart. I now either walk 4 miles or ride a bike 21 miles, alternating days, and I do this exercise everyday. If the weather is bad I use a treadmill or stationary bike. That's my physical activity. For my mental activity I am learning to play the piano in a self directed course. I'm also taking guitar lessons through my local VA Hospital partnering with CreatiVets. I practice both instruments daily. My spiritual activity involves reading the texts for three major religions. I've completed reading the Quaran. I'm now reading the Christian Bible. When I complete that, I've got the Jewish Bible, or Torah. These are how I manage to keep myself mentally engaged on a daily basis.
