This is a general question. If you have a soldier who refuses to listen to you, as a non-commissioned officer, do you simply put the incident on paper?

Example given- A soldier has unauthorized sunglasses on in a formation. You tell the soldier to take the sunglasses off. He/she refuses.

On the 4856, do you recommend for UCMJ? I've gone thru 600-20 and cannot find anything regarding this

You counsel him then give him a week long class on every peace of authorized item he can wear. you have him wear it for a week. Full Battle with packed ruck and a-bag. When he refuses this, push it up to the officers for punishment

Just rennet if you don't have the Authority To do it your self you can't order it.

You politely remove them off his or her smiling face and fold them nicely and place them in your pocket.

I say no to crushing them. (I don't have enough points to vote. When I joined I asked admin what they were good for; but I never got an answer.) It's not that Pvt Snuffy doesn't deserve to have them crushed but he'll probably whine to mommy, daddy, or his/her congressperson and Sgt Crusher will both get bad marks and have to pay for them.

What happened with the pussification of our military. Paperwork for this really? Educate the soldier. That is all. So you get your ass in gear take care of this the old school way. If they crawl your ass take it with no regrets. We are allowing them to mandate us to a new affliction. It is called coddling. Don't be a part of it.

You can't do that "Old School" way anymore. They TATTLE on you and claim HARRASMENT. IF it is a soldier of the opposite sex. . .wait fer it. . .SEXUAL HARRASMENT!

Make them write an essay on said infraction. Making the Soldier his or her own property can also be considered cruel. Since smoking a Soldier can be considered hazing or 'can hurt their feelings'. Since UCMJ is not usually carried out for infractions like this. Also, the NCO has to watch the Soldier as if he or she committed the crime. Also commanders will say stuff to the NCO like, 'you are unable to deal with your Soldiers'. NCOs are pretty much stuck to making them do things like essays and classes because anything else would be to single them out. I have came to the reality that NCOs have to more creative then when I came in. I know every generation of Soldiers says this but we have became a kinder gentler Army. I have spent 12 years as an NCO (PVT-SFC) and 5 years as a warrant this is my two cents.....
