What do you do when a soldier refuses to listen to your directions?

This is a general question. If you have a soldier who refuses to listen to you, as a non-commissioned officer, do you simply put the incident on paper?
Example given- A soldier has unauthorized sunglasses on in a formation. You tell the soldier to take the sunglasses off. He/she refuses.
On the 4856, do you recommend for UCMJ? I've gone thru 600-20 and cannot find anything regarding this

Koala-fy him and see how long his saweeeet sunglasses stay on. Then send him to the CO for at a minimum company grade UCMJ.

With no witnesses present, kick the living crap out of this person, other than were he/she had a profile to wear sunglasses.

Funny WE usually cooperated to complete the mission, if someone didn't I would ...tell him of the creative methods of harm I could do RIGHT there, after that silence.THEY did as they were told, jerks like that are why I am SO thankful I never served in a draft. OR lately ...

I think i understand what you are saying, but i am a little confused. Are you somehow implying that those who were drafted were somehow more incorrigable? What do you mean about lately?

80s troops were a tad more WILD and such was permitted.Drinking and smoking are a dangerous tool ,but a tool none the less.THAT is what I mean.

The problem is, there is too little information here. Yes, he/she refused to take off his/ her sunglasses, but is this the first time they have disobeyed a lawful order? If so, there may be an underlying cause. Maybe those sunglasses covered something they didn't want everyone to see (I.e. A bruise or cut from a fight they had, a domestic). Pull them aside and figure it out after formation with their team leader. If this is not. Start the paper trail. That doesn't always mean an article 15 right off the bat, if a counseling statement could do the job. You don't want to damn a soldier that could be an asset to his team further down the road.

I would refer to the platoon sgt and maybe to the platoon leader or first sgt

I would say give him a Verbal counseling and If He continued with other things than put it on Paper and tell Him that if it continues that You will Be Given a AR15 for Disrespect under the UMCJ.
