What do you do when a soldier refuses to listen to your directions?

This is a general question. If you have a soldier who refuses to listen to you, as a non-commissioned officer, do you simply put the incident on paper?
Example given- A soldier has unauthorized sunglasses on in a formation. You tell the soldier to take the sunglasses off. He/she refuses.
On the 4856, do you recommend for UCMJ? I've gone thru 600-20 and cannot find anything regarding this

Start with 670-1. Then Article 92; Failure to obey an order or regulation, then Article 91; Insubordination. Any NCO weak enough to allow this to happen should be administratively reduced for ineffective leadership and just plain old incompetence.

Simply take them and say "Thank you soldier; I need a new pair." Then get vocal about insubordination, drop him, and remind him he's not on the streets anymore.

I would love to go back to the day when the military wasn't so damn sensitive and you had to write counseling after counseling statement. Being able to settle things in a physical manner usually establishes the pecking order and prevents such situations like this from rarely, if ever happening again.
So, in short, I'd grab him by the throat and punch him so hard in the mouth he shots a pearl necklace the same day.

You need to do something with this person ASAP. If he is not going to obey you orders now do you think he will in combat? Use your chain of command. He needs to be punished Other Soliders will see this and they will do the same. Money and liberty are what's important to him. Go after them.
