Our awesome military is part of a greater power. An entity with the authority to direct, order and engage our outstanding military members, to utilize their training and skill, to maintain our free nation, given to us by the blood and sacrifices of brave soldiers before us. The World is at a pivotal point in our history, for civilians as well as military members. Our US Military members, whether E-1 or O-10, are the only ones standing between our Freedom and Enslavement. The greatest challenge facing our military going forward, is securing True Patriotic Leadership. Not Turncoats or those with personal agendas. True American Patriotic Intelligent Leadership, that understands how volatile Freedom is and that it must be heavily guarded at all cost. Our great military will grow exponentially and thrive if provided with the Leadership in America they desire, deserve and trust. Oorah. Retired US Navy Chief.

Making accessibility for barriers of re-entry for veterans. There are many veterans who made great military members who get out of active duty for a multitude of reasons. They then grow and mature and realize where they belong but are many of times barred from re-entry. This type of personal should be welcomed back with open arms considering their experience and dedication to duty.

I believe the military will continue to struggle with recruiting young people into the armed forces. This generation is less interested in the benefits the military will provide, such as the GI bill, as an example. Today's young people have learned to make an income online doing things they prefer to do rather than hard labor. Also, with the current political climate, our youth has become more opinionated than previous generations and not in favor of the way our goverment governs.

Greatest challenge in 2023? Returning to some very basic principles. I had no misconceptions on what my duties and responsibilities we're during my time in service. I believe that was true throughout the grades and disciplines regardless of assignment location. Everything was built on training, personal development and the discipline to perform at the highest level. All could "step up" when called upon. Not a single time in my later life that I didn't look back to the "can do" attitude and I'm truly thankful for the lesson.

Remember the Infantry is and should always be the backbone of the military, technology is great until you experience an EMP detonation, then your drones, satellites, and other technology is rendered useless. Invest in bringing back the Marine Corps and Army to their cold war strength. I believe that the next battle could possibly be a 2 front war. We currently do not have the man power to meet that requirement. I have heard that the military is having issues of making it's recruitment quota. This seems to have started when the government and the military weak leadership started mandating wokeism. Get rid of all leadership and start over. If you find a leader to be to brash, and doesn't cave to public beliefs, then you probably have the right person for the job. Remember that the military and civilian world are different. If the military is ran with a bunch of individuals, you won't have any cohesiveness within the force. Individualism is encouraged in civilian life, but a disease in our military. We need to get back to creating teams, but instead today we are only pointing fingers at anything that resembles as masculine. Back in my Marine Corps days we were taught that we were all green, you have light green to dark green and every shade between. The most important thing though was that no matter your color or race, you were still green. Semper Fi.

There's no sense of purpose nor pride of serving with the constant belittling of the military and their mission

The military is getting more woke than the average person joining wants to be.... and the military is more concerned with being PC than military readiness.

Maybe it's the opposite? The average person these days IS woke and wants nothing to do with joining an institution that is culturally backward and unevolved? I mean, this would explain why nobody want to join. Maybe, if the military actually wants to attract today's youth and keep them, it needs to become even more woke?
