Job profiency and training. It's what I see on a daily basis. I think other assigned tasks are prioritized to the extent job training and practice gets sacrificed in some fields.

Recruitment. Since the school systems took out the Pledge Of Allegiance and parents not teaching them to be parotic Our youth have no desire to serve.

Adjusting and Adopting to the new generation. Which we shouldn’t. The army should always stays how it was supposed to be.

Archaic? I thought this was about challenges of the future? Not dragging ourselves back into the primordial sludge? People are complaining about lack of retention and difficulty recruiting, that's because kids today have evolved. It is no longer 1943 and we aren't going backward. The future belongs to the next generation and if the old folk cannot adapt to progress and the new society in which we live, they will never connect positively with the youth and we will see even lower numbers of good recruits. Who, what kid, in their right mind would want to join a service that hates everything they are and which has a very bad rep for not taking care of their own? buh-bye.

SGT C Reed I kids nowadays don’t even know what they identify as. Nor follow basic science or can read a simple analog clock. don’t think that’s a good idea.

SPC (Join to see) - Do you even know any kids? Don't worry. They'll be taking over whether you are capable of comprehending them or not, they are the future and if the military wants to be a part of THEIR future, it needs to evolve. Not stay rooted in a close-minded and intolerant past.

Navigating the geopolitical tensions and conflicts between major powers could be challenging for military operations and international relations.
it requires careful diplomacy and strategic planning. Any military action must be carefully considered to avoid unintended consequences or civilian casualties.

I would think getting people to sign
up. Too many see the military as a joke or a prison sentence. Serving our country doesn't mean what it used to mean.

To be able to abide by, obey, live up to the Law of the land which is the U.S. Constitution; even when our supposedly "Commander-in-Chief" does not and dis-regards the Constitution all the time when it comes to the U.S. military. When the President breaks the law of the land while at the very top of the military, any and all those below the "Commander-In-Chief" and I use that phrase very loosely, should be able to refuse to break the law and follow his UN-lawful orders or anyone else's unlawful orders which goes against our great U.S. Constitution, "The Law of the Land" for all of the United States of America! What do you see as the military's greatest challenge in 2023 and why? RETENTION
Good Afternoon,
Serving in the armed forces is a sacrifice requiring core values and devotion to duty. So why does the government sift out the BEST amongst thousands of recruits just to leave them high and dry? Let's not FORGET to invest in the personnel we already have.
Best Regards,
Veteran

I think that recruiting numbers are way down. People these days want drones to protect the country instead of going out and getting boots on the ground.

Preparation for a war with China is my biggest worry. China is doing a lot of saber rattling along with building up its navy and putting is presence in places all over the world as well with apparently colluding with Russia and Iran. I don't think that any of this is an accident. At the same time, our economy is nose diving and were less able to support our military financially much less finance a war. I don't want a war and I don't think anyone does, but you have to always be prepared for the worse, and i think our military's main objective right now is to prepare for a possible war with China. We don't want another Pearl Harbor on our hands. If it doesn't happen, so much the better and it's less likely to happen if we look totally prepared to China.
