North Korea. That have nuclear power and are mentally unbalanced enough to try and use it.

As we enter the year 2023, the military is faced with several challenges that must be addressed in order to maintain national security and effectively carry out its mission. Among these challenges, the greatest one facing the military in 2023 is the constantly evolving nature of conflict and the threat of emerging technologies.

The modern battlefield has changed significantly over the past few years, and the military must adapt to these changes to remain effective. The emergence of cyber warfare and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drones are among the new threats that military leaders must confront. These technologies have enabled non-state actors and other adversaries to conduct attacks that are more efficient and harder to counter.

The proliferation of these new technologies has left the military with an enormous challenge, as traditional methods of warfare are no longer sufficient. The military must now rely on a combination of new strategies, cutting-edge technologies, and well-trained soldiers to combat these threats.

Moreover, the military also faces challenges in terms of recruiting and retaining high-quality soldiers. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as growing competition from the private sector, has made it increasingly difficult to attract and retain qualified personnel. Additionally, issues such as sexual harassment and assault within the military have contributed to a negative image, which could frighten away potential recruits.

In conclusion, the military's greatest challenge in 2023 is the ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving nature of conflict and the threat of emerging technologies. While the military has always been at the forefront of innovation and technological advancement, the threats that face us today are new and complex. Military leaders must continue to prioritize the development of cutting-edge technologies and training opportunities while also addressing the ongoing challenges of recruitment and retention. By doing so, we can ensure that our armed forces remain strong and effective, ready to defend our nation against any and all threats.

The post pandemic remote options that civilian employers offer is one the most current challenges the military is facing in 2023.

I agree that some of the challenges include the military's inability to meet recruitment requirements and maintain the retention of their personnel. I also believe that the military faces challenge when they have lousy leadership under the guidance of a weak government. And the military needs to focus on their readiness and address the threats to our nation and stop worrying about hurting someone's feelings, and stop focusing on meeting a Woke agenda.

The military has many challenges, but none have ever been as great as the need for more men and women to sign-up, as recruitment is way down across the board. There is less trust in the U.S. leadership, government institutions and overall this effects part of the reason so many are not joining.
Another major problem is that of national security and on the homefront especially keeping our data secure and ensuring our IT specialists and security officials are constantly watching and aware of cyber crimes. Unfortunately, one of the biggest challenges yet is the Iranian, Russsia, and Chinese governments tactics, lies, threats and constant detrement to our country as an entirety, as it steals and aims to control the US. We need our leaders in power to step up and be BOLD, BRAVE and let all enemies know that the United States of America will not tolerate any misuse of power or threats and will prevail. We need to let men and women know what an honor it is to have them serve and to also serve them, reward them and ensure they have a sense of pride and loyalty to our country.

The greatest challenge is maintaining the necessary recruiting levels in a time of almost full employment among the young men and women today who do not seem to be military minded. In fact, most young people do not seem to care about our national defense or even think about it. If they do think about military service it is mostly in negative terms.

If you look through a lot of these comments you will see an extreme amount of hate and disrespect leveled at today's youth, while at the same time these people are wondering why the youth want NOTHING to do with this culture that utterly despises them. Hmmm? Maybe these things are connected?? Ya think?!
It doesn't help that the 'benefits' being offered suck, the risks are through the roof, and how veterans are treated like crap is no secret. Kids are not dumb. They are looking to the future and protecting themselves and their families/society.
Like it or not, our society changes. Our culture changes. Global society has changed (it's not just us) The youth of today are different from past generations and they are not going to pretend otherwise. This is evolution and progress. The military needs to evolve and progress too. Not just sit around, get left behind, and whine about changes.

Retention.
While we have made great strides to be a more progressive entity, we have lost focus on mission essential tasks. We are NOT ALLOWED to prepare them with realistic training. If you so much as raise your voice, you get hit with a complaint because it hurts someone's feelings. In a combat situation, I'm not going to ask another Soldier, in a calm and. polite manner, to do something. If a Soldier can't handle yelling and loud noises, this probably isn't the profession for them. Or they should consider a specific MOS that would keep them further from these situations (specific degrees we recruit). We are driving away leadership with combat experience, who can train this new generation and keep them alive in a real world scenario. So while I applaud some of the stride we have made, I also disagree with some of the decisions made as well. Will I follow the regulations put forth, absolutely. Will I train my people to the best of my ability, while following those rules, absolutely. But it's a disservice and setting them up for failure, with unrealistic expectations. It us frustrating for not only myself, but for leadership who have been in for over 15 years and have seen some of the "rules" change.

I think the military's greatest challenges in 2023 will be recruitment as well as continuing to be the patriotic flag bearer for this great country in the face of all the political hostility and decline in the faith and respect our citizens have in the United States government.

Budget funding for training exercises & TOA (Table of allowance ) for each branch of service down to each member . Mission readiness in critical. In order to stay the strongest nation we first and foremost have to find a better way to protect PII! The only way I could think of doing that would be to EMP harden all of our surveillance, satellites an servers.
