Welcome to the world of social activism not seen since the 1970s. 1stBn, 2ndMar: 450+ IHMA (In Hands Military Authorities (Brig: pending Special Court Martial for desertion). Good of Service (GOS) discharges in 1 year led to a new discharge type: Expeditious. Given our need to focus on War Fighting and not social relativism, the Marine Corps started right with the 1st step by holding Recruiters accountable for their recruits performance (or lack of) for the remainder of their career as Marines. If recruiters failed to focus on quality and not quantity, they were assisted in finding employment elsewhere.
We must live by the code of the Marines" Marine Infantry may secure and defend terrain by repelling an enemy assault by fire, maneuver, and close combat." If we can't do this, we are unneeded.

I believe the largest challenge for the military in 2023 is the retention and recruitment of quality members. I have witnessed a large exodus of our combat tested leaders the past few years due to the high OP-TEMPO, funding restraints, and a clash of beliefs (transgender training for example). It is becoming a challenge to continue to provide realistic training for our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen (especially in the Reserve Components) due to an expanded requirements to conduct social and administrative training. We must remember that our Military's primary function is to fight and win this nation's battles. I feel that we are infringing on their ability to do so by limiting valuable training time with these additional requirements and it is directly impacting the retention of quality leadership.

The greatest challenge to the military in 2023 is the lack of good, qualified leadership and government support.

I think it's the fact that we are funding other's military instead of our own because money buys strength.

Military's greatest challenge in 2023 is retaning the troops they have now. I dont know the reason why very few re-enlist but the services need to find out why and correct the problem
