I keep seeing Soldiers with these bright running shoes and for some reason it bothers me although there is nothing in the regulation that states they can't wear these bright shoes I don't understand why they choose to get such bright shoes and don't get black, grey or white running shoes. Maybe it is just a problem within myself.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the running show industry. There are many popular designs that are only available in bright colors. Gone are the days of the dark muted New Balance, Reebok, or Nike. Almost everything on the shelf is gaudy. Running shoes are a personal preference, comfort, fit, feel, support, cushion, etc. Soldiers wearing the right shoe for them should be your focus, not the color of their shoes.

We had a policy in AIT where you had to score a 270 or max your run in order to wear obnoxious shoe colors.

Ultimately, it's the Commander's decision to authorize civilian shoes for wear with the APFU. I don't wear bright colored shoes, but that is my preference. I can definitely see the benefit of wearing bright colored shoes for safety purposes. Although, I also believe soldiers can take it to the extreme and the shoes they choose could be considered fadish.

Sometimes what is on sale are the seemingly faddish colors.

Hello. Every self-respecting man should look great. Every detail of your wardrobe should be indicative of status and sense of taste. This applies to shoes. My father taught me to do this. Now I buy only high quality and beautiful shoes. I recently found one at https://brunomarcshoes.com/. Then I bought myself new shoes. I really like

I have seen commanders make decisions on these shoes, but many of them and I myself agree that in general, bright shoes could be argued to increase your visibility. Personally, I have blue and green running shoes with reflective panels on them. They are also excellent shoes and it is quite hard to find them in more subdued colors.

I think the whole uniformity thing should be instilled. This is the "military". Not some running group our what have you. If you run on your own then fine but while you are doing PT EVERYBODY should be the same. Just like the regular uniforms

They are eye catching, but they do not belong in a tactical environment. Although, there is nothing in AR 670-1 that states you cannot have them.
