From the conversations I have had with vets, a lot have concerns and complaints about prescription drug coverage under express scripts. under the new contract with express scripts, most pharmacies will no longer fill scripts due to the low reimbursement from express scripts. my pharmacy advised they can no longer fill my medications due to the same reason and to go elsewhere. i am on cancer medications and it is extremely stressful to worry who will accept express scripts. I have found one provider, which is out of the way, crappy hrs.
I think the biggest problem the military has and continues to have is retention.
The recruitment efforts are failing and continue to fail to provide new recruits.
A new and vigorous effort to retain personnel already trained and experienced is worth substantially more than a raw recruit. After the initial enlistment period, those that qualify should be offered a six-year reenlistment bonus and their choice of available duty stations. In keeping with the civilian pay, a cash retention bonus should be no less than $50,000 or more depending on the needs of the military.

This sounds like a good idea maybe that's having problems with the VA approving their claims will glean something useful. One of the most useful suggestions I used and made some headway on was to actually put in writing how the VA had failed to assist me. They did find that they failed to assist me in my CUE, but then the VA adjudicator twisted my cue into something unrecognizable and then said I didn't prove it when I had actually proved the CUE I claimed in the first place but of course I didn't prove what they bastardized it to be!

All vets with at least 6 months continuous active duty, get free medical care for life. No ifs ands or buts or we have to see if you are eligible etc. (free medical care for life). You must have an honorable discharge. Vets should NOT have to plead or beg to nobody for medical care.

Make appointments less time for looking at back issues. Going to a third party who can see you sooner to fix a problem. Using Community Care who drags their feet. With getting doctor to make referral. Getting them to not give you a run around that their tests did not show anything wrong. Playing a game with prescriptions that were issued by third parties and not filling them. You started billing my supplemental insurance for visits to VA doctors. I stand a good chance of them dropping me or increasing the cost to me. There are several other problems that need to be addressed. Water from camp in north Carolina. Why returned call not made or my favorite "not my job". I would have liked to say that in Vietnam, but didn't, it was my job. Heart, hypertension, diabetic, artery problem, PTSD, spine problems lower and upper, hearing, eyes, breathing problems. You name it, I probably have it.
I keep waiting for the VA to tell me good luck. Things need to change, or don't tie the hands of the doctor's with strange guidelines and rules. Some places have a reputation of being horrible. Don't want to go to those.

I would really like a breakdown as to what each veteran is qualified for depending on their DV status. I really have no clue as to what my family can get with my disability rating. Resources just aren't there and having liaisons that are educated to help would be wonderful.
