I use to think that he was just a Reality Star, that knows how to play to the masses, but I have recognized that he follows the principals of the Art of War; good strategist.

MSgt (Join to see) - The Art of War, should be read and compared to what Trump is doing and the possible out come; human behavior is predictable. 1980's Colombia cartel leaders and guerrilla read the Art of War, they kicked ass.

I think he is a refreshing change of pace (from the standard politicians). I haven't ruled him out, but I'll admit that he hasn't given me much depth with his policies.

What he has not said about his policies can be surmised from his tactics, he draws his enemies out, avoids their strengths, and attacks their weakness. It took me a while to recognize his tactics; the evil mother in-law type.

CPT (Verify To See) - None of them do anymore sadly. There are no more Reagan republicans or Kennedy democrats. They all sell their soul for the almighty dollar.

PO3 Donald Murphy - that is the absolute truth. It is no mystery why the two candidates that are running on either his OWN wealth and the candidate that is running on only private donations from "the regular folk" are getting SO MUCH SUPPORT, and shaking up their two respective parties. They are not buying in to the manipulation that comes from having wealthy donors and corporate sponsors (so to speak)- and people are gobbling it up.
People are sick of being ignored because those politicians they are paying are more beholden to the highest bidder.
Trump and Sanders represent a major change to the many.

I am surprised by Trump's success as well, I don't get it. I don't like the 'bully' personality type that I think Trump represents. I don't like the level of superficialness I see in almost all candidates. I don't see Trump winning the general election, even though he will be running against Hilliary. I am deployed and with the absentee ballot problems, not sure my vote will even count.

LTC John Shaw You are an attorney and not sure Gov. Kasich's state will get you an absentee ballot?

In order to be confused or confounded you have to ignore the damage that has been done these past few years to the republican party. The Tea Party have already divided the GOP to lethal levels. Anyone wanting a GOP win will need to win over the disenchanted conservative masses. The bloviators and the angry yellers. The Tea Party was a laughable joke UNTIL they started winning seats. At that point in time, they are a viable alternative and any conservative hopeful will have to align with them, if for no other reason to save the party. The GOP has no choice but to push Trump. And if he gets the nom, they will push him. They have no choice. What they fired Trent Lott for, they have to excuse in Donald. Once they win the election, they can houseclean all they want, bring the factions back to the fold, etc. But they have to WIN the house first. The status quo (your Rubio's, Cruz's, Romney's and Bushes) are the problem. The fact that someone OTHER than them is running has been a tonic to the GOP. Only a party idiot would recommend he be censured and dropped from the ballot.

PO3 Donald Murphy - I know what you mean, I was particularly amused at the results of the Congress turnover in 2010, six years ago. Wish they were still around.

PO3 Donald Murphy - Very good observation, I will add that Mr. Cruz and Rubio blame the government but fail to admit that they are the government.
