I think I'll reserve my opinion about Benghazi until I hear the results of Congressman Trey Gowdy's Bi-partisan Select Committee. I think that will be the most comprehensive investigation conducted.
As the old saying goes, "It's not over 'tll the fat lady sings". In this case the fat lady, in my opinion, is a Congressman from South Carolina, Trey Gowdy.

Regarding Security at Benghazi Compound...
In a disturbingly prophetic e-mail to DCM Polaschik following this exchange, Mr. Nordstrom wrote:
I doubt we will ever get [Diplomatic Security] to admit in writing what I was told [in] reference [to] Benghazi that OV[International Programs] was directed by Deputy Assistant Secretary Lamb (WHO DIRECTED HER?) to "cap the agents in Benghazi at 3", and "force" post to hire "local" drivers. This is apparently a verbal policy only but one which DSIIP/[Near Eastern Affairs] doesn’t plan to violate. I hope that nobody is injured as a result of an incident in Benghazi, since it would be particularly embarrassing to both DS and DAS [Lamb] if it was a result of some sort of game they are playing.
My comments: ALL..the U.S. State Department's decision's ( to include keeping a "low" non-military presence) where predicated on an election cycle (which begs the question... Who was pulling their strings?) and the perceptions (it was a video that caused the attack NOT terrorists) that it wanted to project to the American people.. IE, the voters who would soon cast their ballot for the next POTUS.
Four dead Americans many more wounded both physically and mentally, yet, no one has been held responsible....That is pathetic!!

I think it backs up my original assessment, the the DS Security team was ate up and unprepared for an attack. I think this quote from the report pretty much sums it up: "Upon arrival at the TMF the night of the attacks, the CIA security team observed that some, perhaps all, of the DS agents were unarmed and one of them was not wearing shoes. At the Annex only one DS agent participated in the defense of the Annex, but he was in a defensive position on the roof of Annex building #3 when it was hit with the mortar rounds and was severely injured. The other DS agents remained in a secure location with the CIA case officers and support staff."
The DS agents also stated they "felt ill-equipped and ill-trained" to deal with the threats in Benghazi. So essentially the State Dept. deployed an unprepared security force to an austere environment and as such the unprepared, under-trained security force performed to that level: Failing to carry their weapons with them, failing to plan for contingencies, and were overrun by a force that could have been handled by the force at hand had they been prepared and been able to deliver a successful defense of the compound. So whose ever head that falls on is the one who should be in trouble in my opinion

The criticism coming from someone like Graham, I find it very suspect. He's a RINO like McCain, MCConnell, Murkowski, and others. Regardless, the report is just a whitewash of the truth just as Congress tends to do to protect their own.

I would argue that 2 American civilians were murdered and 2 CIA operatives were killed in combat operations during an attack on their compound. But that's just me.

First, I laugh my head off at Republicans embarrassing themselves. But then the whole point is we shouldn't think anything about it. It was never anything to think about. Republicans screamed their head off about this, but Benghazi hysterics never had any more legitimacy than Birthers. Now e have confirmation from Republicans that there's NOTHING to talk about. Move along to something more relevant like immigration or health care or secular government or climate change.

CPT Maurelli that is actually a good question. A colleague of mine (also a veteran) and I were talking after reading the report and both had the same though: Neither of us could have got the job as a DS security agent but both of us felt we could have handled the situation much better. I'm not sure how you change that but if the State Dept. is hiring guys as security that can so easily get caught with their pants down then there is a serious issue there.
