What do you think of the new Army PT uniform?

I've seen the Soldiers wearing the black and gold uniforms for pt recently but only a few. The Army seems to have this problem with uniform changes, I'm a little annoyed. Although I think the current PT's are bland, I don't feel like the Army should be shelling out all this money for flair. It's the same uniform, different color scheme, anyone else annoyed by this? I feel if they were going to make new PTs they could have changed them up besides color. Not to mention I really hate the LS turtle neck. Also, does anyone know the wear date for these new PT's?

I don't really like them. In my old Battalion (ETS'd), we never wore the grey shirts. Just our battalion or company shirts with the black shorts. But as for the look, changing color doesn't do much. Not a change worth the money spent to do so. Whoever is in charge of the changes should be relieved of duty.
They said a whole lot of great things about the current uniform when they changed to it.
My guess is I will have to buy a bunch of new uniforms that won't be any better than the old uniforms they will just such differently than the old uniform.

While I agree with CW2 Krutzsch, the Air Force should take note of the improvements the Army is implementing in the new PT uniform. The pocket for id's/CAC's is a upgrade!
I'm actually surprised the branches have not worked together on a single style of PT uniforms with different color schemes for each branch.

It is all about glitz and glam and trying to "look good". We're all just expendable, as proved by the huge purge over the last 5-8 years of the military. There is no thought in safety here, no common sense. If one gets run over, that makes their job easier to thin out the forces, or even fill that person's shoes if need be...
You watch, some commander somewhere is going to mandate that because the uniforms are so dark that you have to run with flashlights... just like basic trainees. Our leaders advocate that safety should never be an afterthought however this decision indicates that safety was an afterthought as they designed these uniforms. Bust out the reflective belts and lights. Oh and even worse for those that live in hot climates - black PTs in extremely hot places... genius!

Regardless how many neat features this uniform has, the color is where they went wrong.
There will always be change in the Army and yes in my time I've seen 4 PT uniform changes. I personally believe the change for an advanced performance material is the right one. Although I like the color black, I think it could be dangerous in the dark and very hot in the sun. The moisture wicking material may take care of the heat concern and the yellow print may be extremely reflective. I know I was sent a survey on this subject, and submitted my suggestions. I would be curious to know if the colors chosen were based on the survey submissions, which would mean out of the choices we were given we are getting what we suggested.
With all the budget cuts, the Army felt it necessary for a whole new design that will cost soldier's more???

SFC(P) (Join to see) If my understanding of the ALARACT is correct, initial issue of the new PT and combat uniforms will be at no cost to the Soldier. However, if you wish you procure additional items, or (in the case of the PTs) a different set (you can buy the same uniform made of slightly higher quality materials) that will be on your own dime.
Air Force has changed their PT since I have been in and for the most part it was good but they did have some hiccups. The original pants and shorts were really crappy material and the shorts had mesh in them like swim shorts, that was really stupid like we were not suppose to cut it out but everyone did. They just need to have a lot of input not just officers and higher ups. Actually ask young service members their opinion.
I'm curious to try the new uniforms, but I don't have a strong hate for the current ones like so many people seem to.
