Facebook introduced the 'Like' button in 2009 and completely changed the way we socially connect and share our lives with friends and family. For many months I had heard talk that Facebook might introduce a 'dislike' button. Yesterday, I saw that there were several more options focused on emotions, rather than just a dislike. Do you think this is an improvement for social media or a step back?

I agree with you CW4 (Join to see). I think this would've hurt too many feelings. So now we have options!

I LIKE them! Sometimes I want to do more than just like something. Say a person posts bad news ... I don't want to like it, but I want to "sympathize" it. The crying icon might be good for that. I agree with other folks: still need a dislike button, and these like options make the FB experience better.

i agree...but RP has a dislike button and I have never seen anyone dislike a comment or post...(and let's not start with this one, people, just to prove a point...) I used to think a dislike button was needed, but not liking a post is disliking it, right?

Sgt Tammy Wallace - I hope you hang around with us a little longer. There are many disliked posts out there in some very spirited debates. In the end, I think members respect a down vote as long as members clearly state their disagreement.

It doesn't go far enough - it still needs the big red Thumbs Down button...
