What do you think of the Sec of Defence and the Sec of The Army wanting to change the names of 10 Army posts in Louisiana, Georgia and Virginia just because they are named for Confederate soldiers?

If we do rename, or create new bases, I'd like to see one named after MSG Roy Benavidez.

I would vote for that one 1LT (Join to see)! MSG Benavidez was, by all accounts, an outstanding Soldier.

I agree. I wasn't familiar with his service until around 2 years ago when it popped up in my YouTube recommendations. MSG Benavidez is a soldier who deserves to have his sacrificed honored for all Americans to see.

I agree the naming of a post is to recognize the best in us (USA) not to simply reference a point in time. Yes , the WWI, WWII, and Vietnam Memorial does just that.

A great idea and the right time to do it. Those posts were named for traitors to this nation.

I do believe the time has come to paint all those who served & supported the Confederacy with the same brush. Enlisted, officer or politician, they all fought to split the country in order to continue slavery.
Let's tell the absolute truth about the Civil War, not sugar coat it into some dispute over States' rights.

Just another knee jerk reaction. Those people are just trying to erase our history good or bad. They are changing the America I served and fought for.
