What do you think of when you think of veterans of D-Day, June 6, 1944?

I think of the patriotism these men had risking their lives for freedom against fascist tyranny. Those days, people didn't question their government, they just followed orders and led the way to victory.

I think of bravery of men who knew with certainty they were very likely to die.
Yet, they flew gliders and parachuted behind enemy lines and stormed a beach.
They initiated a new era of enduring peace throughout most of two continents.

I think of how blessed we are as American's to be here and to have all our freedoms. Such a different time back then! Life was a bit slower but the men and women some how actually gave a damn about life and had a great work ethic. No one of that generation was asking for handouts. I constantly remind my privates of this concept.. if America could only go back to the way things used to be "including giving up our I-phones" I think life would be so much better. God Bless all the veterans of that era.
