I have heard some outrageous things said about Libertarians the last few days, what comes to mind when you hear the word?

This is what my quiz results say - Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

CSM (Join to see) I've never met a Republican or Democrat who was 100% behind the Party platform but it was the Party that represented more of their belkiefs the an the others. So I'm not lock step 100% Libertarian but I do believe in that ideology more than the that of the others.

Someone who can't bring themselves to support either of the major parties. Someone that sports some very popular and some very unpopular opinions. Someone that can have their mind and opinion changed with enough convincing evidence. Someone that won't condemn you for a differing opinion or stance.

I think I am more libertarian than anything else. I don't care what you do at your house, but in public it does become my business. So, do what you will AT HOME, but Not in public.

But no libertatian will win national office and I can not under any circumstance vote for a Communi..um...Democrat. Democrats think "It takes a Village to raise a child" To this is say, BULLSH*T. It takes two parents. Democrats want to normalize that which traditionally has been wrong and forbidden. Democrats want to shove their hands in my pockets, their ideas into my kids heads and their will into my Gun Cabinet.

I will Cling to My GOD, My GUNS, and MY OATH TO DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION, while the Democratic Party and it's hacks will continue to try to see just how much of traditional America they can destroy.

What do you think when you hear Libertarian?

Seems to me that libertarians are conservatives that enjoy smoking weed. There's a lot of crossover in terms of valuing a decentralized government, personal responsibility, and so forth. On the other hand, libertarian values (which I view as somewhat isolationist) are sometimes at odds with national interest. For example, it may be much better to solve a relatively small problem on foreign soil before the problem gets so big that it directly threatens ours. (I would much rather take care of Islamic extremists on their own turf before they come and mess with my family.)

I don't smoke pot but my stance is I don't care if you smoke pot. However if you're employer says you can't as a condition of your employment then you can't or you can go find another job. It's about personal responsibility.

MSG (Join to see) - It is about personal responsibility. I'm very libertarian leaning myself but I still prefer to label myself conservative. I think that without the Judeo-Christian value system ingrained in our Nation's Founding Fathers, we would today have no opportunity to discuss Liberty, let alone exercise it.

SP5 Christine Conley - That's the great thing about our Nation is that we can debate differing views and methods to achieve (usually) the same end. I truly believe the Founding Fathers got it right with the Constitution. They recognized that any organization must have someone to execute laws and policies but is still accountable to We The People, represented by Congress, and someone else to determine if new laws and policies and the execution thereof is in accordance with the basic legal foundation provided by the Constitution.

With no leader (we've had good ones and not so good ones; I'll let the readers decide which is which) we are just a mob and capable of none of the great things America has done for ourselves and the world.

Libertarians (ideology not the party) are a bit different than what most people know. The problem when trying to define a Libertarian is there are many different attitudes. Some believe there should be no government at all some believe that the government should only build roads and have an army. One thing that is common to them all is they want to maximize personal liberty. So depending on what you ask them about you may get a traditionally conservative answer or a traditionally liberal one.

"Libertarian" is a person who believes in freedom of choice in all things. I am "libertarian" in many of my views. Most conservatives are. "Libertarians" tend to take the point of view of liberty in all things almost to the point of anarchy and that's why I never joined that party.
