Is DOD going to downsize the military so far that we will not be able to defend the US?

The Army and the Department of Defense has been down sizing over the last five years or so. Will we reach retention numbers so low that we will not be able to deploy to the next big war or sacrifice the defense of the US to fight a war on foreign soil. Should we down size that much will we have to open the doors to all possible recruits?

What do you think will be the long-term impact of the downsizing of the forces in the military?
