What does a soldier need to do to send their family ahead of them and have the Army pay for it?

I have a prior Soldier that is stationed in Korea with his family. He just came on assignment to Savannah but doesn't have orders yet. What does he need to do to send his family ahead of him and have the Army pay for it?

1SG (Join to see) The obvious answer is that his chain of command should be assisting him with this. Assuming that his family is command-sponsored and were sent to Korea on orders, it is a matter of requesting the port call date that he wants for their return to CONUS.

The other option is - if the family is there with him and depending on the circumstances, he can request an Early Return of Dependents (EROD) to follow-on assignment or home of record. Like I said, dependent on the circumstances. The Military Personnel Division (MPD) office should have their own guidelines of what is needed to accommodate that. Each overseas location is different in that regard.
