What does every one think about President Obama's plan to "Write off" Student Loans?

He does not look at why there is a problem. Every time the Goverment raise the amount of money you can borrow. Tuition goes up. He never complains about how much professors make. And what about people who go for degrees that are not going to prepare them to get a job. When you get free money what incentive do you have . What he should be saying we are going to put limits on how much you can borrow. Shouldn't he forgive loans that people made to buy houses or cars for those people could not afford them?

I live in Prescott, AZ and the only place I go for my medical needs is the Northern Arizona VA. I retired in 08 and have made a conscious decision to only use the VA. My team and the staff are absolutely wonderful. They have always been attentive, timely and focused on my concerns. When I meet a veteran in my community who hasn't checked into the benefits office yes I encourage them to do it ASAP. I am grateful to live in this area with such a great VA.

What exactly are you referring to when you say "Obama's plan"? That's a pretty vague brush you're painting with there. He doesn't have any plan to allow all students to write off all debt. He did take an action to allow some students to potentially write off their Federal debt under specific circumstances.

SGT(P) Crystal Marie Gray-Wallace - 2009 was when a component of that program was reformed, but the program actually dates back to both Bush presidencies, and can be considered a bipartisan issue. So, laying this at President Obama's feet, which your title and timeline infer, is inaccurate and not entirely candid.
I have no problem with the program allowing people to have their student loans forgiven in the cases of fraud (like with Corinthian) or in exchange for public service. I also don't have any major problems with forgiving the loans if students have successfully made monthly payments on that debt for two decades. If after 20 years of successfully making payments, you still owe debt, then something is wrong with the system more so than the individual.
