Teaching students about each of the religions is fine. No emphasis on any one over another, focus on the primary beliefs, differences, etc. If you send your kids to a private school, which is also religious, it is that school's prerogative to focus on their religion.

I agree if they are teaching all religions, but a school system in Chatham NJ is only teaching about Islam and then at the end they are getting the kids to say the conversion prayer. Two moms have retained lawyers because they believe that it is wrong. There is an article out there about it.

Proselytizing? No. But I'm all for comparative studies. That said I don't want public schools teaching kids to be Christian or any other faith for that matter. Religion is a family, not a state, matter.

No religion belongs in school other than comparative studies or in the limited context of a particular time and place in history. Christianity deserves no special status or exceptions.
