What does the word commitment mean to you?

Keeping one's promise or sworn statement that aims to benefit and improve the lives of ourselves and of others-- both of people that we care for/love and of people that we do not know or do not like. Coming to all actions and words from a mindset of consistent goodness towards myself and of others, regardless of any or all surrounding circumstances.

Commitment is a promise to myself and to others that I will do what I have set out to do. I can be committed to a minor task, or I can be committed to my family, an organization or a cause. The promise is sacred.

Commitment is a contract that you make with or for someone or something else. It is a promise of money, time, effort and/or yourself. It is doing what you said you would do even when it's hard or you would rather do something else. Commitment is how we show our honor, integrity and pride.

Commitment is to do, say,and obey the orders given till you and everyone below.to be the vest you can be in life and others.

The state of being morally upright, honest, noble, and forthcoming. Always telling the truth even though it might make you look bad. And to honor someone else in my opinion is the greatest thing you can bestow on someone.

Commitment means being dedicated to whatever causes you feel strongly about. Be it your country, your family, your neighborhood, your friends. Commitment will not only help others around you; it will teach others the qualities of being a committed person.

Commitment means doing whatever it takes to keep your word, or keep a promise to deliver goods or services.

Commitment means being devoted to doing something. It means not breaking a promise to do or deliver something. It means doing whatever you have to do to be able to uphold a promise to deliver.

In the USMC Commitment is the spirit of determination and dedication. It leads to the highest order of discipline for individuals and units. Commitment: a conscious choice to continually put forth the effort towards a goal, decision, promise or person. Choosing to remain faithful to that choice despite fatigue,regret,doubt,illness,the unexpected, hardship and interference. Choosing to look at the choice as a contract between you and the decision you have made, one which you will see to it's natural end, that being an agreed upon goal, or expected outcome. Furthurmore, a commitment does not have to be a negative thing to be looked at as "work" or "punishment", commitments are often made with joy and carried out joyfully. In fact commitments are more frequently honored by those who take pride, joy and fulfillment in remaining commited to their decisions.
