What does the word courage mean to you?

Courage is the ability that exist inside a person spirit. Courage supplies strength mentally, emotionally and physically to push through or move forward in a what appears to be a hopeless, lifeless and fearful situation to do what ever needs to be done to help resolve that issue. Courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to move beyond fear to help others and oneself. To give all one has to bring about victory in life.

To do something for others, even though it may be dangerous, to protect them and/or their rights. To sign on the dotted line even if it costs you everything, maybe even your life.

Courage is facing your new combat infantry platoon with the will to overcome all past injuries, losses, and attacks on your mind and spirit. Particularly, when you were relieved of your command following an investigation about a friendly fire incident in which five grunts were wounded and they held the lieutenant responsible for the carnage.
The second platoon honored the courage to continue the fight despite the hurt. And the third platoon actually awarded the courage by providing a 21-gun salute on my last day "in-country"

Running toward the dangerous situation - not away from it!!

Courage is action taken that may be risky or otherwise uncomfortable, either to conquer a personal hardship or for the benefit of others and the greater good without expectation of reward or praise.

Courage is how big your heart is. It makes you a much better person. It makes you real.

Cast aside Doubt,
On your Own,
Under Duress,
Respond to the Need,
Answer your Conscience,
Give "ALL YOU HAVE",
Equally to All!!!

Being able to do the unexpected no matter what.

Having both the inner fortitude as well as the wisdom to make the correct choices even though it may sometimes involve significant risk.
