What does the word sacrifice mean to you?

Sacrifice to me means to go beyond your limits for something you believe in, for someone you love or care about or a cause which is most important to you.

Giving up something that means a lot to you for something or someone that means so much more.

Sacrifice could be interpreted as the act of giving up something important as in the average soldier giving up their "normal" lives to go to a foreign country and fight for strangers, which only 2 people have died for in history, the soldier and Jesus. It could also be seen as the sacrifice a spouse gives when they are left behind to tend to the family and bills and daily chores all by themselves...I have seen sacrifice, I have sacrificed as so many other soldiers and spouses have. What it means to me is freedom for our country, for our families and for us.

The unselfish giving of yourself to benefit others around you or even the whole country.

Sacrifice is my wife raising my new born son by herself when I left for 9 months only one week after he was born. Sacrifice is what my son felt when he brought a picture of me to Dads day at school when all the other kids were able to bring in their Fathers. Sacrifice is what my family endures when I answer the call of my Country.

Placing the needs of others before your own, giving more than receiving.

Giving your all (body, heart and soul). Not expecting anything in return

To give without expecting anything in return.

Sacrifice to me means giving up something when you will suffer for doing so.

Sacrifice means giving up everything while expecting nothing in return.
