What does the word sacrifice mean to you?

To me, the word "sacrifice" means having the maturity to postpone gratification in service to a cause greater than myself. It means prioritizing the needs of the greater good over short-term personal pleasure or comfort. It means enduring temporary hardship and suffering while committing to a mission that may benefit a great number of fellow human beings or other ecosystems upon which humanity depends.

Giving up one’s personal feelings, interests or desires for the overall betterment of others.

Putting on that uniform every day knowing today may be the last day you live and being PROUD to do it to protect our country and people who can't.

Sacrifice means selfless and giving unconditionally. Our troops are the primary example of this such sacrifice to this selfless nation we all are blessed to live in freely called America.

Giving of one’s self that would not normally be expected. Going above and beyond to help another human being or group without expectation of anything in return.

Willingness to lay down your all or life, not just for a brother or loved one, but also for a stranger.

To give all in service of your country, no matter the cost.

Sacrifice is to give of yourself not matter what. To be selfless always lending a helping handing. Sacrifice is giving of your time, your self, and your talents, it’s not always about money. Some people don’t have money to give.
