What does the word sacrifice mean to you?

Giving up something you want/benefit from in order to provide something for others. Providing something at the cost of your own desires/needs

Sacrifice is something you do most of the time without thinking. It is a spur of the moment, knee, jerk reaction to situations when others need help. It means you don’t put yourself first but the one’s in need or in harm”s way. It isn’t for accolades nor medals but because you know deep in your heart it is the ONLY thing to do at that exact moment. It means doing for others before yourself even if it means your life. We all took the same oath. We are all brothers and sisters sworn to protect one another. I still believe this even as a disabled veteran. If more people made more sacrifices the world would be a much safer and happier place to live in.

Giving of yourself, whether it be time, finances, or life, for others without expectation of compensation or payback.

The pure selfless action comitted so that others are not harmed or suffer from inaction.

To be willing to give all that you have, all that you are, and all that you will ever be for the ones that you love and for the future of all mankind.

Sacrifice is what a mother does for her children on a daily basis and what a combat medic does on the battlefield for his soldiers or a buddy watching out for his friend. This is what sacrifice means to me.

To die so that others can live.
