Your question is intriguing. I do not have any significant or veritable knowledge in this matter, but I have been trying to locate a group of folks that have experience with the transition back in. Ive been in contact with a few fellas that want to reenlist, but can't seem to get recruiters to take them seriously. That said, I hope to learn more about your experience via RallyPoint as you progress so I can pass it on...or at least have another person to whom I can redirect the questions about reentry. Good luck to you.

Should be a little bit easier of a transition for me since I just got out of the Marine Corps Aug of 2017. Recruiters haven’t given me any issues tho. I’ll deff keep this thread up to date.

Only been out a few months and trying to get back in? Heh...yeah, civilian life ain't all it was cracked up to be after all. I've been itching to call up to NRD Philadelphia and look into a commission, myself. As I mentioned, your thread is significant bc a lot of folks are actively trying to get back into the service (all branches). There is a fella on here I've talked to regularly. He's been trying to get back in (was a Marine....he mentioned open minded consideration of other branches). He is one of fellas that needs some info more urgently than others I've talked to. Currently, he is living down in HI after a job took him there and trying to support his kid. Decent paying work just hasn't transpired as well as he (or I, for that matter) thought. Recruiters are dicking him around; from what he tells me his discharge was good and I think he sep'd as an E-5 and would consider other hands-on type MOSs. Would you mind if I intro'd the two of you on RP?

`Hey Sgt, just curious. Was your recruiter able to pull up the list of available MOS's prior to you going to MEPS? Or did you have to pick when you got there? I'm currently trying to get back in as well, and my Recruiter said he wouldn't be able to look up available slots due to me being prior service.

Haven’t gotten that far yet, I’m waiting on my LASIK waiver to come back later this week or next then head to MEPS. From my understanding it will be the same process as before tho (recruiter finds the job, you go over the contract and sign at meps). I’ll keep you posted.

Hey Sgt, the Sgt's that went through osut with me basically got the same treatment until later on and then they were given some leeway but they were housed in the same bays

Good to know thanks for the info. It’s not a major concern at all I just like knowing ahead so I’m not going in blind, good looking out.

Need some more details to help. What's your new MOS? Are you going active duty or reserves/guard?
