You'll keep your benefits, I can't remember if it's an RE3 or RE1, but that's not important unless you're trying to reenter the Army - which you're not because you're signing a declination.

You'll still get all your benefits and be eligible for reserve service. All you have to do is actually read the 4991 since all the effects are listed on there

What effect does signing a DCSS have on your DD214, more specifically your RE code and my benefits after the Army?

I signed one as a SSG declining DA select Recruiter school and duty. Got out on a chapter (don’t remember which one but because the Army was downsizing at the time in the mid to late 90s). Went TPU reserves, never got a contracted bonus, got out of that into the IRR. 2 years after that went back in the TPU reserves and eventually got commissioned and then back on active duty and retired with over 20 active years.

It really had no long term effect on original DD-214 and benefits and actually did a lot more for me in the long run.

It had no effect on my DD214, RE code, or benefits.
