Just to start the conversation, I still make sure that my 'gig' line is straight every single time I get dressed.

Eating fast, normally being a half an hour or more earlier being somewhere than the time I was asked to be.

I always thought the gigline looked assymetrical with the buckle pushed off to the side. When I put on a civilian belt buckle, I place it right in the center. While on duty, I join in, and give my full respect to the methodology and traditions of the US Army. While away from duty I grow a beard, I speak softly, I'm kind & understanding, I relax, and I don't sweat the small things. The military is an important part of who I am, but not to the extent that my personality becomes it. If my ability to go full-civilian ever fades away, then the green weenie has truly won, and I'll be just another insufferable haircut with a permanently bulging neck-vein. I try to learn and keep the best of myself from both walks of life - which really just means being a professional, and a gentleman.

Correcting people when they jump out their lane. I still verbally assist people back into their lane to do their job

After 21 years being retired, it's all become a pleasant memory like High School was 49 years ago.

Most importantly... all my clothes in my closet are dressed left, pants, long sleeve, short sleeve and even T-shirts are dressed left and segregated.

Using military lingo like once in a while tell someone to get their head out of the four point contact or the spelling

Yeah, checkin' that gig line 49 years later. Don't worry about wolfin' down your food, that'll come in time.
