What habit(s) have you been unable to break after leaving the military?

Just to start the conversation, I still make sure that my 'gig' line is straight every single time I get dressed.

Jerks who think I am not telling them the truth about being Arny. Once they shake my hand and I break their wrists they know. Easy.

I always walk at a fast military pace. Even when I deliberately slow down my wife still says I walk too fast.

I was forced out of military because of age. I was depressed and became a computer surfer.
Which then caused me trouble

The gig line is real.... But I did that before I joined.
I was habitually on time by the end of my career, and I am now. I am usually where I need to be 2-3 minutes prior. It got to the point where we were showing up at 0430 for a 0630 Div run, and I had had enough. I stopped being early to ANYTHING. So much time WASTED sitting around.
The biggest thing for me is Sir/Ma'am. I get real funny looks when I call HS student "sir."

I haven't even tried to break any of my Military habits so yes early every where by 15-30 min. still Field strip Cig. Butts, check the gig line, and on and on.

I can relate! Also, lining up my shoes; rolling underwear and socks, and lining them up in the drawer!

Gig line still straight - even though I'm wearing polo shirts a lot more, the buckle/zipper line is still straight.
Eating fast - but I always did. I grew up the youngest of 5. The oldest, my brother, is 6 years older & a big eater. If I didn't eat fast enough, he would start on my plate after his was empty.
Short hair - kept it long(er) after getting out. The wife liked it that way. But it got to be a pain. So one day, the barber suggested a buzz cut. Went with it for a while & changed it to a flattop.
Hospital corners - always made the bed this way. Dad was in the Army & taught us all to make our beds. Had the tightest bunk on the 1st day of BMTS.
Clean shaving cream nozzle - always keeping the nozzle clear.
Unlike a lot of other comments, I still show up late for appointments. Always have, probably always will. Not as bad as I was, part of what got me an early discharge from the USAF.
