Just to start the conversation, I still make sure that my 'gig' line is straight every single time I get dressed.

Daily PT at 0600. I continued morning PT until I couldn’t do it anymore due to rheumatoid arthritis, adult onset asthma, lack of testosterone, pain in my ....

I actually just started to pick up ruck marching again. I can't run due to my knee, but damn it if rucking isn't a helluva workout.

During my break in service I still caught my using terms like "say again" and "out here" on the phone.

Several...
The haircut. I find that no matter the situation, if he hair even starts to get near my ears that I find myself almost with an itch that won't go away until I visit the barber and it's back to military specs.
Standing in line I find that I go to parade rest while waiting.
Whether I set the clock or not I find that I wake just prior to 0600.

I still do PT everyday and it has served me well as I reach 71 years in 2019.

Amen to you sir. I got into triathlon myself, and that with younger kids, keeps me young. I turn 57 tomorrow (Friday 9/28) and have 5K fun run on Sun, and half marathon mid Oct (called Good Life Halfsy). :)

To this day, and it drives my wife nuts, in the Navy, if your aren't 20 minutes early to anything, then you are late. I cannot break that habit, though it has helped me in my career. Another thing that sticks with me today, even after being out some 30 years, is I still eat a meal faster than anyone else can. When you server on a tin can, with 245 other squids and have a mess deck that only seats 50, you get the idea.

I left the military in 1976. (Navy). Then I worked for the Navy as a civvie! for 33 more.
I am now an "old head:...
I still check the gig line Still make sure I have at max 2 on the side, high off the ears and blocked in the back. Still wear a "ball cap" ( although now its a bald cap). Polish my shoes to a "spit shine". Treated my children (when they were young) to "working parties" ( like scrubbing the deck) when they decided to go against each other.
It is all good... and now as I approach the end... I still think of the good times I had in the military!
