I was really looking forward to them shutting down AKO email.
Long story short, my AKO email was farmed out by bots.
For years I've gotten spam that I can't unsubscribe from, nothing I can do about it except hope that they were going to shut down AKO permanently. I tried at one point in getting AKO to change my address - no dice. They just said don't worry about it, we are migrating to OWA eventually and AKO is going away.
I thought it was June 2015 time frame, but it's still listed on global, you name it.
What gives?

AKO email Is gone for good. With regards to spam, AKO had a service to get rid of them: [login to see] .mil. very efficient if you ask me but not sure if it works after the change.

Sorry sir I disagree with you on two points
1) it's definitely not gone. I get emails addressed to us.army.mil all the time. Maybe 3-7 per day. It's still even listed on global. I have a Soldier I just told today to quit sending me calendar invites to my AKO
2) that spam email only worked if it was something that consistently sent emails. Unfortunately, my email was sold or spammed via a bot so that doesn't help. Blocking one sender does nothing when it's part of a system that rotates between a million hacked email accounts.
