As I travel around the country to help veterans and family members find careers, educational benefits, and wellness resources, I hear about the HORROR stories about the hurdles that some veterans face. If you have a success story, I would love to hear that too!

The hardest hurdle has been realizing that we are not special, and that we have even more of a responsibility to lead the way because of our leadership experience.

The biggest and most difficult hurdle I have had to overcome has been the lack of integrity, leadership and honesty that I have experienced in the civilian world. I have even run into prior service military that have pushed forward programs they knew would be bad for war fighters and only cared about making money. This is the kind of person I find despicable. One such project involved army tactical communications and a technology that would ensure the deaths of soldiers. I asked the PMs in charge of the project if any of them had every served, answer "No" did any of you go to a brigade and review your plans with any soldiers, answer "No". My team was hiding this from our partner because he had served over 20 years in the army and they knew he would have questions. So it was all driven by the almighty dollar and making mid level managers look good.
