I have had a few interviews and been told to my face "oh you are not what I expected". I jokingly replied because I didn't do facing movements coming in and yell good morning sir and ma'am? Answer: Umm yeah. One interviewer even said "we" tend to steer away from "military types" we are a more laid back liberal group. WTF? I am proud to be a Vet and smart enough to think for myself, I never realized it would be considered a hindrance.

Dealing with a company that treated policy and standards as guidelines, not requirements. Enforcing policy and standards cost me a job, and I learned the hard way: "It's better to be employed than right!"

Not only am I a veteran, but I have a college education and I am speechless in terms of some of the employers in this state(Michigan). Most won't even consider me as a viable option to hire. I am reduced to working a hard labor job, for pay that barely allows me to live. I do the best I know I can do, but still it is not enough. I am so close to quitting the job search as I am about to return to the military. It may not be active duty right now, but eventually, I will return to active duty. I plan on sticking it out until that time comes.

Yes the education card its hard up here in Massachusetts while hunting i saw an ad for a Receptionist Bachelors degree in related field desired. I almost fell out of my chair. i know the economy sucks but really that is just crazy, it has been hard and in an interview I actually almost said "I left my degree at sea, where I have spent nearly half the last 20 years of my life supporting and defending this country, my bad."
