When I was at Ft. Bliss my brigade did a SHARP land nav course. At each location were 2 VAs and once a company arrived at their station they discuss a topic and answer questions. I thought it was a very interesting approach. Being a VA it also, got myself thinking more outside the box on how to approach different issues and concerns.

Discuss it and make sure you're enforcing zero tolerance. I just had to issue an LOC to an Airman because he was making women in the kitchen jokes after being told before jokes like that aren't ok. Hammer the point home with consistenty.

How would you address it to a major audience? How to stop Blue on Blue assaults, without re-victimizing one or hinder the capacity for more people to come forth, without fear of reprisal? Food for thought. Nonetheless, thank you for your valued input.

1LT(P) (Join to see) - That's an interesting question. Because essentially you're asking what are we doing wrong and how can we do more. The honest answer is I don't know. I don't believe we will ever completely end sexual assault but we should still try. Is the method we have right now effective? I don't know. There are a lot of regulations and laws that already govern sexual assault but for a large part they aren't followed. When someone is convicted of sexual assault enforce the current policies to the strongest degree. Make sure that all your airmen know it's not ok and you will act on it.

Then the only thing left to do is maintain integrity to do what's right at all times. That's why we as leaders are entrusted with the lives of our Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines; at all times, at all cost. Keep in your mind : "Not in my squad not in my (fill in the blank). I'm not under water, I'm speaking in general terms. Soldiers go thru this problem, therefore that punch line comment doesn't help the point I am trying to make; with all due respect Sir.

1LT(P) (Join to see) - I have seen some under water who nobody saw as credible anymore. If so they need to be relieved and next one make it a priority if there were issues. However outside of the box pick two junior Soldiers have them do a skit or brief (see it first to ensure it would be good and not make things worse) so that they learn and we can learn from peers instead of same person all the time watching same videos.
