I came across these guidelines for wear for the OCP and Multicam OEF-CP, and I am still confused as to what headgear is authorized for both uniforms and if there is even a difference between the headgear, which I don't really see there, but I can see in the actual uniform. These are literally the same pictures, it's just that the headgear part confuses me. I haven't really found anything anywhere in AR 670-1, and if someone could point it out or the difference at all or if anyone would notice the difference while wearing it, that would be much appreciated.

Multi cam pattern has random stripes that run vertical as well as horizontal, which the scorpion does not have. Scorpion also has prominent “slugs” which is your dark brown in the pattern, and they were made with more green in them, so that they camo better. You should be able to tell multicam is more brown. The way they fade is also different... multicam tends to wash out faster.

PFC Samuel B., OEF-CP will have “Multicam” printed throughout the pattern. The OCP will not. Both patterns were designed by Crye Precision, however, they still own the trademark on Multicam so they brand it as such. Many years ago, Crye Precision sold the rights for the “Scorpion W2” pattern to the Army which is now known to us as OCP.

Hope that helps.

I don't know if this helps:
In the side-by-side OEF-CP (multicam) is on the left. In the uniform comparison, OEF-CP is on the bottom.

https://ovinnovations.com/pages/scorpionmc has a good article on the differences.
