What if Iraqi's Military Can't Defeat ISIL or ISIS? What is the next step for the U.S. Or is there one?

Interesting question Master Sargent. It is difficult to predict things in a region that is so unstable. I do not think the United States can ignore this. The possibility for a terrorist group of having a country of operations has global implications.
One could speculate all day long and give themselves a headache, but in my opinion, had Al Qaeda not had Afghanistan as there country of operations they could not have pulled off the 9/11 attacks. I do think they would have tried regardless, but would not have been successful.
I think sending troops back should be a last resort, but i believe it would be foolish to ignore the problem with the hope it will go away.
