It could work, but current servicemembers should retain their present set of benefits, since many have already made long term budget commitments off of them.  Unfortunately, as we've seen with retirement pay, that likely wouldn't be the case.

I am not sure if it would be good or create more issues, look how long BAH has been in effect, almost 20 years, and before that, VHA which also was around even longer.


This seems like a backdoor new way to cut funding even more for what is needed for enlisted, especially junior to be able to live somewhat affordably for their families.

This is where they are going now but do not be surprised to see certain benefits revived to compensate for current policy.

MSgt Kerwin, thank you for posting the information.  I guess it is too soon to tell whether this will be advantages or not for service members, we will need to wait and see once more information is provided.
