Headed to fort Lewis Washington as my first duty station. I'm an MP also. So, what information or anything I need to know regarding my job or fort Lewis. Any information would be appreciated.
I'm also coming from national guard to active duty.
Thank you,
SPC Manchester

SPC Manchester, I’m not sure whether you have your pinpoint assignment yet, but if you end up going to 42nd MP BDE (the main MP presence on the installation), expect to work a rotation between the road, gates and training. You’ll also take on various installation taskings, due to 42nd being a direct reporting unit to I Corps. I’m sure someone currently in the BDE could give you more specifics. You’ll likely end up in one of the companies under 504th MP BN with the rest of the 31Bs. 31Es go to 508th and primarily run the detention facility. It’s a great post. Lots to do, though we’re currently under a cloud of smoke from Canada and Oregon.

That was my last active duty station 571at MP company. Unless it has changed and I am sure it has you go between L&O duties 8 HR shifts Motor pool Mondays and PT. Alot of newer family housing. To patrol as well as community areas such as PX CIF ( alsways when it is closed) shoppetts. As for personal time there is a lot of stuff to do on and off post. Just remember this NG and Res are entirely different then AD. Expectations are different do not go in with a part time attitude this is full time (I'm sure this is what you wanted) You will be expected to do good things and be professional at all times. Never ever think or say "dont confuse your rank with my authority" I have had my Soldiers do that and it doesn't end well. Also, lastly get use to shoplifting cases. I use to get them all the time. Good luck JBLM is an excellent station. All the rest I will leave for you to discover on you own. rltw!

Stay squared away, follow orders, and learn your (AOR) area of responsibility.
