We are constantly subjected to negativity, it's a social norm to highlight and report on bad news in the media and rant about systematic injustices in our profession. My question to you is, when you are looking out into our formations, and beyond that within our society, what inspires hope? Where do you look for good news and how do you supplement skepticism/pessimism with optimism? What are you doing to develop an atmosphere of understanding, appreciation and progressive change.

When I stumbled across RallyPoint I was looking for answers to questions that were not being answered within my command. I was seeking guidance from either regulations or level headed informed leaders with experience and who embodied the the Army Values. What I found was way more than I asked for. I found young Soldiers and experienced leaders sharing their wealth of knowledge and encouraging development. I found SPC Thundercloud (who I've never had the privilege of meeting in my life) who not only has arguably the most hardcore last name history, but is unbelievably insightful, engaging and wise beyond her years. I found unbelievable people that have dedicated their lives to an idea bigger than any of us. The idea that we should protect our liberties by any means necessary and develop capable people to do just that.

I'm inspired by you people and people in general. You folks have answered Presidents Kennedy's question of, what can you do for your country. The things that are accomplished by the minds of dedicated individuals will never stop amazing the world. We live in a world of wonder and achievement and if we stopped for a moment to recognize this, we just might change something.

What inspires you?

SGT Castleman,

Your message is very uplifting. Thank you for reminding us to "hunt the good stuff."

I am inspired by leaders like you who take the time to motivate new Soldiers. I'm inspired by the NCOs in my company who work hard and get their hands dirty on field missions, always willing to lead by example. I also find inspiration in some of the PFCs I work with who always volunteer to do the thankless tasks that others avoid. These things give me hope for the future of our military.

Yes, CSF for the win!

In AIT, my class took part in an 8-hour Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) session and it really helped me see the benefit of positive thinking.
