My son failed his first AIT (35N) and chose 31E as his reclass MOS. I’m sure it will be quite different from the training environment he has been in where he was in a two-man room and allowed to have a television, coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Unfortunately he seems to think that it will be a similar training environment with similar privileges. I would love to get some up-to-date information so that I can share it with him. Thanks in advance.

So he failed and is blaming his relaxed environment as the reason for failing? I'm sorry, but at the end of the day, it is on him to ensure that he can successfully complete the training regardless of the environment he is in

SSG I don’t know why he thinks he failed his course. The question is what the training environments like currently for 31E IET at Fort Leonard Wood. Because coming from Goodfellow Air Force Base he has been in a college dorm like room with a kitchenette and the ability to have quite a few extras. Now leaving for Fort Leonard Wood he thinks he’ll be able to take his personal coffee maker television and things like that with him to his AIT Barracks there. Since I doubt that that is actually the case there I posted the topic to get some feedback on what he should expect from the AIT at Fort Leonard Wood. Added the information that he had failed out of his previous training just so people would know where he was coming from since he’s not coming directly from basic. Sorry if my original question was not clear.

PFC Elizabeth Campbell - Its an OSUT MOS so he will not have the same abilities he had at Goodfellow. Keep in mind that i work directly with 35N's who have said on multiple occasions that its next to impossible to fail the AIT because everything is done in a classroom environment

SSG Unfortunately for my child it’s possible to fail anything because he just does not apply himself. He knew when he picked that job originally that it was going to be a school that he would actually have to pay attention to instead he got there and started flirting with all the girls the result a less desirable job.

I just graduated 4.5 weeks ago and we first had to share a room with 10 other females including me, the guys had the same. Then social distance happened so it was 5 per room. So it’s nothing the same as where he came from. They do let up a little bit, you’re not allowed to keep your phone but a couple hours on sundays. And eventually to get passes where you can go out and do stuff.

SFC (Join to see) that would’ve been real nice to have! It was a good experience that i did have though. The class before us was terrible, i got lucky both times, for my bct i got put in an osut company and it was cool too. They also made us do acft.

If he failed his MOS-Q, he can pick anything He wants, BUT the Army will send him to ANY MOS-Q course they need at the time. Be it FA,IN, underwater messkit repair, etc.. As for the environment- it will depend on what MOS they put him in.
