I am prior service going into the Air Force. I leave for my tech school in a week. Will I be considered TDY? If so will I be getting per diem?

I should adjust that. If you sleep past noon you only get the partial TDY rate.

You'll have to see your orders. When I retrained form Aircraft maintenance to Air Traffic Control it was a 6 month school and a PCS assignment. When I went from active duty to reserves and retrained again, I had government housing and received nothing except rations initially. Then I was moved to a hotel due to facility maintenance and was comped for the hotel and meals plus taxi expenses to and from hotel daily. There are a lot of variables but planning to receive nothing is your wisest option. Then if you do get funds, you have some breathing room.

I thought in the Air Force you were considered TDY and drew per diem if you had to leave your office and go to the building next door. ;)
