Currently at ait for 36B. Wondering what day to day work life, promotions, etc. are like for finance comptrollers.

Do your contract and reclass as soon as possible. Next to impossible to promote. It’s a dying MOS that is being taken over by civilians.

SSG (Join to see) Maybe 2 years ago it was difficult to be promotable, but it wasn't unobtainable. Also, finance companies will actually be finance battalion's in a couple of years. Where are you getting this info that they will be deactivated?

SSG (Join to see) Where? What unit? Our CMF is one of the smallest so when something like that happens its major and everyone would know about it.

I do agree with what SSG (Join to see) and SSG (Join to see) stated. However, if as you perform your duties, you find yourself proficient and likening your job, perhaps take advantage of it. Get all the available training post AIT and certifications to you from DAU you can(you will become extremely familiar with them). That way you could become one of those civilians either as a contractor or a GS (preferable).

I agree with SSG Dickhoff. This MOS is not what it’s cracked up to be. Promotions are scarce past E4. Not a job worth holding on to.

SSG (Join to see) where are you getting this data from that promotions are scarce past E4? Maybe in compo 2 and 3, but not compo 1.
