Can anyone tell me what fort Campbell is like? My orders say 101 rep. Which I’m tracking is the improssesing part. And I have a sponsor for 426th bsb. But they’re tracking me as a 92M (mortuary affirms). Today I graduated as a 92Y (unit supply specialist). So I’m curious if it’ll change? And overall what’s its like being at Ft. Campbell. Thanks in advance!!

They have an awesome web page that tells you everything you need to know. You can also request a sponsor. It is a rural area. The training is almost unmatched. The Soldiers are disciplined and hard charging. The leadership is impeccable. However, like everywhere else there are the 5% who are not so hot. You are a PFC, you have seen the good and the bad. When you arrive seek out the good Soldiers to aquaintvyourself with.

Thank you for your service.

You will most likely be stationed with the Sustainment Brigade based off of what you have posted. Granted that could change. Campbell is a nice assignment from my experience there (2014-2017) and I actually still miss it. The mindset is different there but not in a bad way. I advise getting Air Assault knocked out as soon as possible if you are physically qualified as it is sort of a right of passage there that will open up other opportunities. The 101st is the only Air Assault Division in the Army and they take great pride in that so they are obsessed with having as many as possible qualified. Summers are hot and humid and miserable, but winters are mild. Clarksville is a pretty decent place with Nashville being only about 45 mi utes to an hour away. There is plenty of stuff to do outdoors so you shouldn’t be bored. The OPTEMPO is high but not unbearable either. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

The Army is at about 75% fill on 92Y at any given time. You’ll go where the need is in Campbell and which every CSM is the fastest. 426 will want to keep you, depends on USR math

There are worse places to be stationed . Like Ft.Chaffee, Ft. Hunter Liggett, where the only things to do when your not training or doing your job is working out. Stay away from Cat West if it's still open you will go broke one dollar at a time . If you like to fish there are plenty of rivers off base to fish. Nashville is only about 1 1/2 away. Expect to go to air assault school within 2 weeks of being assign to your positing, try to pass it the first time your C.O. might give you a 3 day pass if you do , if they say you don't have to go because of your MOS request it anyway Air Assault wings look good on any uniform , plus chick's dig them .Over all it's not a bad duty station, but it can get kind of boring. Hope this helps.

Go to the gym, stay away from the dirtbags, get your AASLT wings, keep your mouth shut and do what your told, be where you’re supposed to be, when you’re supposed to be there and in the CORRECT uniform. Follow these rules and you’ll be an NCO before you know it.

It depends on the unit and your MOS, but expect a lot of deployments. Also, expect to learn more than most units, because of the constant updates and new equipment, 101st is a magnet for new stuff.

Get ready to go to Air Assault school. I go tomorrow. If you were 526th BSB you would be going to Air Assault school within a month it’s high speed just listen to the orders given and you will be fine

Don't take Air Assault for granted. A lot of soldiers here think it's a joke and doesn't see it as a big deal (because everyone here has it) but once you go to another duty station is stands out somewhat. Air Assault is a big deal here to most CoC from what I see and you'll probably go after a month or two at your unit.

The Family Resource Center has a lot of info and the housing on post is decent if you're married. In my unit from what I hear the barracks aren't too great but I don't know for myself. Once you get to Kalsu they give you information and a nice little pamphlet with a map that I still use a year later. Utilize the rope there so you can get used to climbing one. There is a lot to do on and off post. Just stay out of trouble and if you go to Nashville HAVE A PLAN. And don't spend all your money at Cat West here in town.
