What is MEPS like for prior service (specifically for a Reservist going back to active Army)?

My husband recently just got his approved 368 conditional release back and will be going to meet with the recruiter Monday to get paper work going and set up MEPS date. Since he is all green for all of his med pros we are assuming he'll just go straight to career counselor. Can anyone shed some light on that process? Will they give him a choice of keeping his MOS (25U) or re-class? And then will they show him options on duty stations and he get to pick? Also, am I allowed to go with him since he won't be doing any physical and things like that? I'd like to be apart of the decision making on where we go if he has the choice. Thanks everyone!

I went through this same process earlier this year. If his medpros is all green then it will be a no med process. Google army prior service business rules and that will tell you what jobs are available based on rank. If he has to reclass then he will not get to pick his duty station (that was my case). If he keeps his job then I dont know if he gets to pick where he goes. From the time I met with the recruiter to going to meps was a week and a half. From the first time going to meps to speak with the counselor and pick my job, to coming back and swearing in was about a week. Upon swearing in, I drove directly to my new mos school. You will not be able to go with him for the whole process but you can sit in on the swearing in. Pretty much you will sit in the waiting area till it's his turn to swear in.

SPC (Join to see) nope! No height and weight. Might be different at your meps but they just took what my recruiter submitted.

SPC (Join to see) yeah, I joined straight from the reserves, so my medical was already good to go. If you are totally out of service, you will have to do the whole process....

It is more like a formality than a scary first time through. You know what is coming and it’s fun to chuckle when they try to tell you something that is not true or you know different.

As said before, using medpros is a “no med” so your husband will not complete a physical. As for keeping his MOS, the Army publishes HRC business rules. These govern what mos’ the Army can take. This is broken down by rank as well. So, MOS’ for E5 May be different than E6. From what I read, mos 25U is open for E1-E4. The business rules also discuss mos’ that your husband can reclass into. However, please understand that it is needs of the Army so just because it’s on the business rules does not mean there is a vacancy.
