I have a friend who is looking to get into the military but he had sex with a minor when he was 18. He is 26 now abd has 2 more years on his probation. Just want to know if he has any luck with getting in with this on his record?

Sex offender and on probation for TWO MORE years? Why is this even a discussion?

SGM, I get where you're coming from. Just wanted to be a good friend and at least try. Get different opinions and things of that nature.

SFC (Join to see) - if you were a good friend, I would recommend to tell your friend the truth. So if you were a sex offender, do you think you would get into the military? Probably not. Recommend you friend seek a different career path that do not involve military, law enforcement or kids.

At 18 you are considered and adult. If he is registered as a sex offender in the system then I doubt he'll get a waiver. I agree with the others that he will need to finish his probation before looking into waivers or expunging his record.

Everyone deserve a second chance but unfortunately he can accomplished this outside the military. I wouldn't like for any of my daughters to be in the precence of this guy as a leader.

SFC (Join to see) - While you may be trying to act in the best interest of your friend, my suggestion is to quit wasting your time (and his). He messed up. It's his problem to work through... not yours. Certainly, don't make it the Army's problem.
