What is RallyPoint Etiquette 101?

As an admin, I'm really disturbed at recent behavior here on RP and I've had a lot of complaints recently about fellow members behavior. Whether we are still active duty, reserves, guard, or a veteran, we all need to remember our military bearing. I know we all learned it so there is not excuse for the behavior I've seen. On top of bearing, we are all human and have to share this planet, so let's try to make it a little more friendlier.

It really is sad that I even have to bring it up, but I'm going to go over RP discussion guidelines. I have copied and pasted them here for your convenience.

DO

1. Be professional, respectful and constructive

2. Post only things that can be seen by the public

3. Include details in your questions and in your responses to others

4. Create posts that ask a question or spark discussion around a topic


DO NOT

1. Do NOT post anything that is marketing a service, a business, a personal event, or can otherwise be interpreted as promotional

2. Do NOT post asking about finding members of an old unit or deployment. You should instead find them directly through our Advanced Search

3. Do NOT post anything that is not of interest to the general RallyPoint community

4. Do NOT post about specific employment opportunities to "All of RallyPoint." Information about formal job postings can be found here: http://www.RallyPoint.com/employers

Inappropriate: anything that is marketing a service, a business, a personal event, or can otherwise be interpreted as promotional​

Soliciting members for a paid service

Promoting your personal business, books, website

Linking to petitions and surveys

Soliciting members for an external survey or study; you may however create a survey on RallyPoint if it's appropriate for the audience

​Soliciting members for contributions/sponsorships for fundraisers and events​

Providing personal contact information (if you want to exchange information, please use RallyPoint Messages)


Inappropriate: posts that are not of interest to the general RallyPoint community

Linking to personal websites or blogs without asking a question or starting a discussion

Personal reflections, beliefs, political views not intended to start a discussion​ or ask a question

Strictly social posts such as "Tell Me A Story," "I'm bored

Topics of interest to the general RallyPoint community include military and veteran affairs, current events, networking, professional development, etc. Each discussion will be posted to one of RallyPoint's Answers Categories.


Inappropriate: posts about specific employment opportunities or local events posted to "All of RallyPoint"

If you are interested in a formal job posting or would like to recruit using RallyPoint, please visit http://www.RallyPoint.com/employers.

Any employment opportunity posted in Answers should be tagged with the "Job Fairs" topic and posted "Only to the above tagged areas."

Any local event posted in Answers should be tagged with the appropriate location or duty station and posted "Only to the above tagged areas."
