I have been off of active duty for ~3 years but I am still in IRR. I have recently transferred to active reserves but I am currently waiting on my orders. I reclassed but I don't have a school date or anything like that quite yet. I'm wondering if the reclass course for the reserves is going to be as intense as basic training, or if it is going to be more so about the schoolhouse and be treated more like adults than we were in basic? TIA!

Looks like there are 3 locations for reserve reclass in FY24. It is 2 phases, 2 weeks each. But each class/location only has 3 dates for the year, so seats are hard to get into. Reserve reclass is school based, not as intense as basic.

I believe you'll likely head to Camp Parks, CA for your 92Y training as a USAR MOS-T. Training should be nowhere the intensity of BCT and it's going to be focused on cramming knowledge into your head.

If you want some 'light reading' between now and when you head to the course, I suggest you at least look over AR 735-5*, AR 710-2*, DA PAM 710-2-1*

If you do an internet search on terms such as "day in the life 92Y reclass" you'll find numerous videos and posts by Gen Z Soldiers telling you about their experience.

For the Army reclass unless things have changed will take place in Ft. Lee, VA, and you will now become Quartermaster. You're going to learn the weapons, how to maintain the budget, the Supply Room but since you've already been through BCT you will not have to endure that again. I had a soldier who was out for some time and returned without a refresher. There will be alot of reading and research, along with working with the programs they currently use for the information. I'm sure there have been updates, and the fun part the variety of paperwork....3161, 2062, and there are many others those are what I remember most bur no worries as long as everything is maintained and accounted for everything is great.
