You are maxed out on civilian ed, so look at it as a method to increase promotion point totals to gain you advancement. Also, correspondence courses are specific and technically oriented while your degrees are more broad based and not military specific.

I struggled with this very question when I was an NCO. After completing some of the courses I had actually learned more about leadership than I ever did in college. If you are in a competitive mos then it will help add some promotion points as you have already maxed out civilian Ed.

What is the academic and professional merit to correspondence courses when you already have a BA and 2 associates degrees?

Corespondence Courses are EASY promotion points.. Plus you MIGHT actually learn something you didn't know.

2 Different arenas. Academically, you get to learn different topics across broad areas, since to max out correspondence courses you will need 400 hours. Professionally, you will have developed yourself by learning outside your MOS. You will have maxed your civilian education. Both offer points, both are necessary to stand out among your peers. If you login to ACT it will show you how much.

You'll be one polished Sheepdog after you get that DD-214!!! I might poke you to think about a degree that really has military within its ideals like Ecominic Crime Inv. or Cybersecurity. We all know (some maybe) the White Kinights (military financial invs) audited the Fed and found 800,000,000,000 in stolen funds throughout history (during the late '90's). NTM, the 240 Billion in Securities money that went through Bank of NY (Oriskany, NY) on 9/11 ( guess how much money is not on their books that it happened during that quarter). Only Sheepdogs have the guts to chase down these traitors dual-citizens! 19 dudes in a cave did not move this money!

There is something new you can learn everyday. Focus on your professional development, on becoming a master of your trade, and passing that knowledge to others. And with assistance from TA get your masters.

The point is continual growth through learning and self development.

You haven't maxed your brain, and the Army wants you to keep learning and growing- in the job, in the profession, and in the books!

They will assist you for promotion points to your next grade (SGT), I would suggest that you take 11 Series OBC then apply for your commission.
