Re-edit: Going back to the original post.

According the the NGB*, the absolute max is 41 years old (you have to be commissioned prior to your 42nd birthday), but this may change depending on the state you are in.

Looking at the OHNG criteria*, they give the same general guidance (commission prior to age 42).

CPT (Join to see) Ahhh.... never mind... see your point. Yes, they have to be 34 years PRIOR to commissioning. Bad wording on my part.

Only if they attend Federal OCS, NGB allows Candidates to attend State OCS programs up to age 42. From the Reg you posted. "(2) Maximum age. No individual is authorized to be initially appointed in the ARNG after they reach age 42.
This requirement is not waiverable. "

Rgr - I went back and forth regarding this language.

My first post was "Generally, the max age is 42 but it can vary by state" ... then started seeing a lot of docs from NGB saying that 34 was max so I talked myself out of it and changed the description.

I think my first comment and your interpretation are right, especially since I just read another link on Colorado's NG site which says the exact thing.
